Justice League of America

The Justice League of America is a strike force comprised of the world's mightiest superheroes with the DC Universe.

The seven original members were Aquaman, Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter, Superman, and Wonder Woman.  I’ve also included the 4 recruits from the 1960’s to complete the Subbuteo team – Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman and Black Canary.

Here’s how they’ve turned out on the little plastic men (and women).

It's a trap! It's an offside trap!

So a couple of years back I painted up  Star Wars Stormtrooper team.  They've played in FISTF and WASPA tournaments, but for my solo leagues at home have had no real opposition and have defended the Empire for the past 2 years.

The Rebel Alliance have now got together and Admiral Ackbar has managed to get Red Squadron up and running in a bid to thwart the Empires dominance.

Let battle commence!

Over the next couple of posts the Rebel Alliance will hopefully grow.  Keep an eye out for more teams in the near future!

Schmohawk Wanderers

The manager of the worldwide SubaLeague International team Schmohawk Wanderers got in touch with a request to paint up their squad for their forthcoming season.

Having signed up a number of squad players, Schmohawks’s manager Richard thought it would be a great opportunity to get his whole team painted up on an individual basis.

The Schmohawk squad consists of the following 18 players:

Stevie Wonder
Paulo Maldini
Stuart Pearce
Dirty Harry
Ron Nasty
Harry Nilsson
Cosmo Kramer
George Stobbart
Rober T Ironside
Steve Bull
Happy Gilmore
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
CJ Spiller
Super Hans
Giovanni Henriksen
Elliot (from E.T.)
Tintin
Toad (Super Mario)

The biggest challenge was figuring out how to get Ironside into his wheelchair!

You can keep up to date with SubaLeague on Facebook (you’ll have to search for them as it’s a closed group).  View a  short video for their 2013 Christmas Cup at https://vimeo.com/79423100

Tottenham Hotspur 2013/14 Home Kit

I thought I'd give this kit a go as Tottenham are the team I support.

After painting this kit, my wonderful wife said "oh, you've painted a team of sailors!"  Thanks then!

I'm still undecided as to whether I like this kit or not; if Spurs get into the Champions League or win a trophy this year I will love it; if they win sweet fa then it'll be another forgotten kit!

Borussia Dortmund 1997 Champions League Winners

I recently had a request to paint the Borussia Dortmund Champions League winning kit from 1997.  I've painted a Borussia Dortmund kit before, but this kit from 1997 is a bit more complex.

For those of you that don't know, Dortmund beat Juventus 3-1 to lift the Champions League trophy.

Football Atiic's League of Blogs 2013: Hungry Ted's entry

Following on from my post about Football Attic's League of Blogs, Hungry Ted got in touch asking for their entry to be converted into Subbuteo figures.  Here's how the crazy, bearded, no-nonsense, man’s-man of a player turned out!

Football Attic's League of Blogs 2013

The Football Attic is one of my favourite blogs to read; they have loads of articles about subbuteo as well as other retro football stuff.

For the past 2 years the guys at Football Attic have run a design your own kit competition called The League of Blogs.  This year I thought I would enter; have a look here to see this years entries.  Despite not winning, the guys at Football Attic contacted me asking if I could paint up their home and away kit and the kit for the overall winner.  I jumped at the chance!

Here's how the kits look on the little plastic men

Football Attic's Home & Away kits

Congratulations to Live For Football Shirts for winning the best kit; it reminds me of a cross between Chelsea and a Portugal away shirt.  My favourite entry (excluding my own!) has to be Hungry Ted; check out that kit design and beard combo!
